Seems good but just thanks to the controls i cant imagine actually doing a full playthrough of
this. should have the option to use the pointer with a mouse

Good news: the option is there! Just open the pause menu to set the pointer to mouse.

as fun as this game probably is, I don't have a mouse and my touchpad is semi-functional

Well, mouse is recommended in all the games you have to aim.
